Painted assemblage sculpture on a 12" x 36" cradled wood panel.
These masks are something of a meditation on identity—solid yet fractured, visible yet hollow. Their neutral expressions and empty eye sockets create a space that feels both distant and intimate, inviting reflection on how the self can feel divided or concealed. The cracks suggest stories of wear and transformation, revealing both vulnerability and resilience. Placing them against a moving, almost restless background mirrors the ongoing tension between our inner truths and the external world we navigate.
This work stems from a profound engagement with the idea that identity isn’t fixed but shaped by experience, memory, and emotion in ways that can be both beautiful and unsettling at once. The colors and textures in the background represent the shifting landscape of feelings and influences that constantly shape and reshape who we are. The masks, deliberately positioned low on the canvas, feel anchored yet shadowed by this complexity—like vessels carrying histories, emotions, and fragments of selfhood.
